The above link is taken from ESPN.com and it is about Lebron James. This article is related to ambition because it discusses Lebron James' ambition as a basketball player. Lebron recently claimed to be one of the four best basketball players to ever play the game. This is a very bold statement by a current player. This is so bold because he has so much more to prove that he is worthy to be considered just as good as the greats, such as Micheal Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson and many others (Avery Dingman). This caused a lot of response in the sports world because this statement can be viewed as very arrogant or just very confident. There is a video included on the article page with what are considered basketball "experts" and one of them immediately shoots down the fact that Lebron is going to be in the top four all time. If someone claims they are going to be one of the top four best at whatever they do they obviously have a lot of ambition to try and prove they are.

I personally think that Lebron is wrong for claiming to be one of the four best players to ever play the game. I do not think it is wrong because he is not a great basketball player. I think it is wrong because he has way too much to prove. It is too early for him to be putting himself on the same level as the all time legends. Even if it is going to be true I do not want him comparing himself to the legends of the game right now. It comes across as very conceded and arrogant. Lebron is a fantastic athlete and basketball player but he still has a long way to go to put himself on the same level as the legends. Lebron is also one of the most ambitious players to play the game. He works very hard to improve his game and continues to go game in and game out with high intensity. I personally believe that Lebron will go through any extent of physical pain in training to better himself as a basketball player and hopefully be able to be greater than the legends of the game. I think ambition is a good thing. It motivates people to be better in every aspect of their lives but too much of a good thing isn't a good thing. Lebron has found somewhat of a good medium to have confidence in his skills and be willing to back them up with hard work. He says a lot of bold and ambitious things and if he proves them congratulations to you Lebron. But, Lebron, let me tell you this, if you do not prove that you are worthy to be considered to be one of the top four greats than you just look like an arrogant fool. That is my opinion on Lebron and his ambition.
