March Madness? More like March Sadness

March Madness? More like March Sadness

This article is about the development of the Creighton University Men's Basketball team over the past couple of years. It reminisces on the good times and it reminds me of the bitter end of the season which occurred on Sunday, March 23rd against the Baylor Bears. It summarizes the contributions each of this years seniors had for the program and how their legacy has made a name for Creighton basketball and put them on the map. It tells about how although this historic season has come to an end the best is yet to come for the Creighton Men's basketball program because of what this team did.

This article really hits home to me. It is about the thing I am most passionate about in this world, Creighton basketball. I have been a Creighton fan since birth and have attended more Creighton games than I will ever be able to count. I can name countless players off the top of my head that I have idolized over the years and have shed countless tears over.  I have witnessed a great transformation of the Creighton program over the past couple of years. I am also 100% convinced it is because of the great players that were in this year's senior class. The transformation I witnessed involved the Creighton program going from a program without any national recognition in a conference no one really cares about to a major competitor on the national level in one of the Big Six conferences. This team will always have a special place in my heart and I will never ever forget what they did this season and over their long careers as college basketball players. If you are not familiar with the Creighton basketball team and their roster the four seniors on the team this year were Jahenns Manigat, Ethan Wragge, Grant Gibbs and Doug McDermott. These four men helped this team do things that could never have been thought of for Creighton. They went above and beyond in their contributions for the program but yet they still fell short when they lost to Baylor. They deserved so much more than what happened on that sad Sunday night in March. I truly believed with all my heart that this team could have made it deep into the tournament with a possible Final Four run and even possibly a national championship but they didn't even hit the Sweet Sixteen. This is what turned this year's March Madness into my March Sadness. I was and I still am devastated by this loss because the only thing they deserved, in my mind, was a national championship. Although from the start I knew it was unlikely, but it was possible because anything can happen during this crazy month of March. But, this season has come to an end for my beloved Jays and I have to say goodbye to Jahenns, Ethan, Grant and Doug. I have to stay positive for the next generation of Creighton players and hope that this team has set the foundation for the great things that are to come. I am scared. I am scared for the future of the Creighton program but I am also excited. I am excited to witness the final year of "my dude", Avery Dingman. I am excited to see Creighton's recruiting take off getting prospects that would never have considered going to Creighton when they were only in the Valley. But most of all, I will always be excited to watch the future of Creighton basketball develop. Well there is one last thing I would like to say. Jahenns, Ethan, Grant and Doug, it's been real, it's been fun, it's been real fun.

http://espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/story/_/id/10439666/lebron-james-says-among-nba-all-greats

The above link is taken from ESPN.com and it is about Lebron James. This article is related to ambition because it discusses Lebron James' ambition as a basketball player. Lebron recently claimed to be one of the four best basketball players to ever play the game. This is a very bold statement by a current player. This is so bold because he has so much more to prove that he is worthy to be considered just as good as the greats, such as Micheal Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson and many others (Avery Dingman). This caused a lot of response in the sports world because this statement can be viewed as very arrogant or just very confident. There is a video included on the article page with what are considered basketball "experts" and one of them immediately shoots down the fact that Lebron is going to be in the top four all time. If someone claims they are going to be one of the top four best at whatever they do they obviously have a lot of ambition to try and prove they are.

I personally think that Lebron is wrong for claiming to be one of the four best players to ever play the game. I do not think it is wrong because he is not a great basketball player. I think it is wrong because he has way too much to prove. It is too early for him to be putting himself on the same level as the all time legends. Even if it is going to be true I do not want him comparing himself to the legends of the game right now. It comes across as very conceded and arrogant. Lebron is a fantastic athlete and basketball player but he still has a long way to go to put himself on the same level as the legends. Lebron is also one of the most ambitious players to play the game. He works very hard to improve his game and continues to go game in and game out with high intensity. I personally believe that Lebron will go through any extent of physical pain in training to better himself as a basketball player and hopefully be able to be greater than the legends of the game. I think ambition is a good thing. It motivates people to be better in every aspect of their lives but too much of a good thing isn't a good thing. Lebron has found somewhat of a good medium to have confidence in his skills and be willing to back them up with hard work. He says a lot of bold and ambitious things and if he proves them congratulations to you Lebron. But, Lebron, let me tell you this, if you do not prove that you are worthy to be considered to be one of the top four greats than you just look like an arrogant fool. That is my opinion on Lebron and his ambition.

Introduction to the Sophisticated life of Robert Reed

Hello people of the Internet. My first statement directed towards you is I am sorry. I am sorry for this random collaboration of words you are going to read and if you are mentally sane after reading this I applaud you. I would like to introduce to myself to you. My name is Robert Allen Reed III but I go by Allen. I will also respond to "Avery", "Dingman", "Big Dawg, and "Big Al". I am a avid Creighton Bluejays fan. My favorite player on the team is Avery Dingman. I call him Aves for short. Aves is my boy, my homie, mi amigo. If you bag on Avery Dingman than you are also bagging on me. The reason why I say this is because most people who follow the Creighton Men's basketball team are not huge fans of Avery. I have heard from many Creighton fans that Avery is a so called "waste of a scholarship". I beg to strongly disagree with these people because they don't know the real Avery like I do. The people who hate Avery and say he is useless for the Creighton basketball program are merely jealous of Avery's swag and dashing good looks. He is a Disision-I athlete and you are not so do not hate on Avery. But I do not just enjoy Creighton basketball, I am a very sophisticated person with many intriguing hobbies. The first of my hobbies I would like to share with you is my deep burning pasion for literature. I love reading fine pieces of literature in my freetime when I am not doing other recreational activities, such as painting. I don't know how to put this but I'm kinda a big deal. People know me. I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany. I am quite possibly the most intresting person in the world. If you would like to learn more about my sophisticated lifestyle follow me. It will be the best decision you have ever made.
It's been real, it's been fun, it's been real fun.
